Springtime in the Rockies

Here we are a week into April.  At Altitude it's always the April tug and pull of the weather patterns.  We have days that pull you outside, with the bright sunlight, but the winds bring the chill that reminds you that springtime in the Rockies means you still have a while to go before the weather will stay warm...........and green is still a color only splattered here and there........not a widespread pallet.

I commented to my family on Easter Sunday that I used to hate spring.  But now I see it as a practice in delayed gratification.  There are the warm, sunny, Sunday afternoons, when you can sit in the sun and it feels like summer is just a few days away...................but then it snows the next day, and you know you have to wait for those long, lazy days to come.

This weekend they are telling us that Sunday will hit the 70's..........with a little help from a pinon wood fire we should be able to spend the day outside.............watching the robins who have suddenly showed up from where ever they have been "wintering".  The male house finches are literally strutting their stuff............wooing the females and singing their joyful song of spring.

And the Columbines are pushing through everywhere.
